The Freya Project has an immediate position available for a Social Media Manager. The ideal candidate has experience managing social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter, and is passionate about storytelling to inspire community-based activism. This position is FULLY REMOTE, but would require 1-2 virtual meetings a month with The Freya Project’s team.

As Social Media Manager, you will create a new social marketing campaign each month, help to build brand recognition, manage all published social content, grow followers, increase engagement and drive traffic. If you’re someone who nerds out about what’s new in social media and how it can improve results, this position is for you. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage and execute social media strategies for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

  • Craft creative, clever and engaging social posts for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

  • Utilize social media management tools to schedule posts and engage with followers

  • Design graphics that will complement social media posts

  • Upload and manage YouTube channel, including using keywords that will enhance search optimization

  • Design email campaigns to send to different list email subscriber segments

  • Actively engage with followers by liking, sharing, retweeting,  and responding to comments in a meaningful way

  • Maintain expertise across social media platforms as they evolve

  • Adapt a voice that matches The Freya Project’s tone, including appropriate responses to both positive and negative incoming messages, curate relevant content, monitor social activity

  • Increase knowledge of industry improvements, best practices, new trends, and research

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Great communicator with experience collaborating with a small internal team on strategy and creative brainstorm sessions

  • Experience writing creative and engaging social posts while keeping social media best practices in mind

  • Ability to work remotely and be self-motivated

  • Proven experience in social media strategy and execution, including audience segmentation and content planning

  • Excellent organization and planning skills with the ability to take full control of multiple social media platforms at one time

  • Passion for digital marketing and ability to consistently stay ahead of market trends

  • Ability to curate content and write branded messages in multiple voices

Bonus Skills (Helpful, But Not Required):

  • Knowledge of other aspects of digital marketing, such as creating email campaigns within Mailchimp

  • Experience with social media management tools (Hootsuite, Buffer, Later, UNUM, Sprout Social, Oktapost, etc.)

  • Experience with Squarespace, such as creating blog posts

  • Knowledge and interest in contemporary literary culture

  • Knowledge and interest in social justice and activism in line with The Freya Project’s mission 

Required Education and Experience: Social Media Management: 3 years (Required); Marketing: 3 years (Preferred, Not Required)
