Lilith Fund assists Texans in exercising their fundamental right to abortion by removing barriers to access. Lilith provides direct financial assistance to empower people seeking to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, and education and outreach within the community about reproductive rights.

Lilith Fund believes in reproductive equity, and envisions a society in which equal access to abortion is guaranteed for all, regardless of economic situation. The right to choose an abortion is meaningless without access to abortion services. Restrictions on abortion access and funding are discriminatory because they especially burden low-income patients. We oppose all efforts to restrict abortion rights and are committed to fighting for access to abortion.

Meet the Readers

BETHANY BALL

Bethany Ball received her MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. Her first book, What to Do About the Solomons was published in 2017 from Grove Atlantic and was a finalist for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize and the Jewish Book Council’s debut novel prize. She was born in Detroit and lives in New York with her family.

IRIS COHEN

Iris Martin Cohen grew up in the French Quarter of New Orleans. She holds an MFA from Columbia University and studied Creative Nonfiction at the Graduate Center, CUNY. Her work has appeared in the New York Sun, The Austin Chronicle and Habitus Magazine. Her first novel, The Little Clan, was published in April 2018 by Park Row books. 

AKIL KUMARASAMY

Akil Kumarasamy is a writer from New Jersey. Her fiction has appeared in Harper's Magazine, American Short Fiction, Boston Review, and elsewhere. She received an MFA from the University of Michigan and has been a fiction fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and at the University of East Anglia. Half Gods is her first book.

KATE SCHMIER

Kate Schmier is a writer and editor whose workplaces have included a women's magazine, an addiction treatment center, and currently, a scientific research institute. Her fiction and nonfiction have recently appeared in Tin House, Apogee Journal, Alma, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College, and is the recipient of an Elizabeth George Foundation grant for emerging writers. A native of suburban Detroit, she lives in Harlem with her husband, a jazz saxophonist. She is a proud volunteer for the writing and mentoring organization Girls Write Now. 

DARLEY STEWART

Darley Stewart is a Scottish-Korean fiction writer based in Brooklyn. Her work has appeared in Tin House, Joyland Magazine, Funhouse Magazine (UK, digital), The Ocean State Review, Flapperhouse, The Brooklyn Rail, The Battersea Review, Electric Literature, and elsewhere. Darley Stewart is the recipient of a 2016 Fiction International Fellowship from Seoul Art Space and 2015 Ocean State Fiction Scholarship from The University of Rhode Island. An alumnus of Brandeis University and The University of Edinburgh, she is at work on her first novel.
